Experimenting!

My sister's birthday is this weekend and I used her birthday cake to practice with my Cricut cake. I think the top of the cake looks great...the sides need a little work. But that is what family is for :) They think you are creative no matter how ugly it is. Initially, I didn't like the color scheme, but now that the cake is complete I really like it.

Like the name of this post suggests, I was experimenting with my Cricut! The fondant ribbon roses turned out great. They have green edible sparkles on them as well. I was really pleased with the top cut out as well. Overall I give the cake a B-, I know I have made better cakes in the past.

Stay tuned more to come, next week...

Happy 1st Bday Wyatt!

The smash cake was dairy free, egg free, soy free, and wheat free! This was a first for me and I think the cake turned out great. If you didn't guess- it was western themed and the larger cake I made all the accents with the Cricut!

Surprise!

My cousin Lindsey planned a surprise lunch for my Aunt Kathy. I supplied the cake! At lunch I came very close to getting a wedding cake order. My aunt was shocked to see soo many faces at lunch :)

Happy Birthday to ME!

I got to try out the topsy turvy techniques. The bottom is a vanilla cake with chocolate filling. And ladybug inspired. The second layer is chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling. It is zebra! Then of course a little ladybug. Love this cake!

Cookie Bouquet!

I took another class at Cake Art on how to put together cookie bouquets. The class was fall themed since fall will be here soon, at least I hope. We used a variety of different techniques to decorate the cookies.

Holy Chocolate!

I made this cake for a dessert welcome for the new cardiology fellows on the floor. It is a chocolate truffle cake with a chocolate glaze. It is really rich, I made a trial cake the day before and it was awesome! The hearts are on there because it is a cardiac floor :)

Breast Cancer Awareness

I made this cake for a co-workers celebration. She just completed her final round of chemotherapy and it was for a cookout! I used a new buttercream recipe and I LOVE IT! I was able to get the sides nice and smooth the top was a work in progress, but much better than any other recipe I tried!
